Meta’s poaching is having multiple impacts on the direction of AI. There is more chaos. Products are being delayed. Top talent is moving all over the place.
That deal which would have brought the Cursor/Copilot competitor Windsurf to OpenAI is now off. Many of the top talent are going instead to Google’s Deepmind. Windsurf remains, but lacking it’s CEO and cofounders.
Meanwhile, the drama at OpenAI is strong. Sam Altman announced that their open weights model is being delayed. It was planned to release next week and that probably means that GPT-5 is also being delayed.

That was definitely a crushing blow to Zuckerberg, who is Lawyering…I mean Developing Up with a Dang the torpedos, throw all the money at ’em approach.
Well, it’s working and there’s not enough popcorn in the world to take my eyes off the drama. This is better than any telenovela.
